Festivals

There are hundreds of dance and performing festivals across the UK.  They are structured in age groups and different dance styles.  Dancers learn a routine choreographed by one of our team, are fitted for a costume and are able to perform it on stage. You can perform as a soloist, a duet, trio, quartet, or as part of a group.  They are a competition and marks and placings are awarded, all performers get a certificate of recognition and a report from  the expert adjudicator or judge on what they enjoyed and areas for improvement.  You can also do festivals in singing and acting.

At FUSE, all students are invited to be part of festivals if they want to.  Initially as part of a group performance first, then as much as is right for them and their family. Some of our dancers are happy to just do one or two things - others like to do more - others don't get involved at all, it's not their thing - and that is fine.  We can work with you to offer the right amount of challenge. Our teachers and choreographers have worked with dancers competing at the highest level both nationally and internationally, and also with those doing their very first solo on stage.

As a school, we do 4-5 festivals a year, but you have the option of deciding how many works for you.

Costs and Structure

Our festival dances are issued as part of a package that includes the 1:1 time to learn the dance, a fixed hire fee for the costume and then the entry all included.  This package is offered to all students under 11 for all dances and for all students of any age who are doing their first solo/duet. We think this is important so you know exactly what it is going to cost and there are no surprises.  If you want to add extra rehearsal lessons, you can.

Lessons can be booked through available slots that are issued to all students so you have the options of days and times that work for you.

We often get asked, but what if they don't want to do it on the day? Not a problem! We absolutely believe that the learning of the piece and the practicing is what is important as the dancers learn so much from the process.  There is never any pressure to do the performance if the young dancers don't feel ready or just don't like it on the day.  We won't apply pressure that may ruin their future love of dance and performing.
